Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner made his first comments today about the killing of Laquan McDonald by a Chicago Police officer.
Governor Rauner says he cried when he watched the video of McDonald getting shot 16 times.
"That video is shocking, terrifying. I cried for the young man brutally shot. I cried for the thousands of police officers who are honest and hard workin’, put themselves in harms way to preserve and protect us, and whose reputation gets damaged by the behavior of a few bad people. I cry for the violence that is tearing apart so many of our communities," Rauner said.
Rauner questions why it took more than a year to criminally charge the Chicago police officer who shot McDonald.
