Mayor Rahm Emanuel is changing his tune today about whether or not the Department of Justice should investigate Chicago police.
Yesterday, the mayor said that any additional layer of investigation would be "misguided", because the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s office are already investigating the Laquan McDonald case.
But today -
EMANUEL: Look, I own any of the confusion, and I want to be clear.
The mayor now says he welcomes anyone - including the justice department - who can help the city on a number of issues, like:
EMANUEL: Building the trust between the police and community, building also the notion and concept of accountability, and reestablishing the principle that civil liberties and good public safety go together.
Politicians from all over, including presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, are calling for the justice department to investigate.
