Conservation Crew Restoration WorkdaysJan 8, 24; Feb 12 & 28; Mar 12 & 28; Apr 9 & 25 9 a.m. to Noon
Work alongside fellow nature-lovers in the beauty of the outdoors for a gratifying and invigorating day restoring the forest ecosystem. You’ll learn new things, have fun, meet wonderful people, and help contribute to the health of the forest. No experience necessary; training and tools are supplied. Bring a water bottle and stay hydrated. Dress in layers and expect to get dirty!
The free AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program will again be available at the DeKalb Public Library and is for people with low to moderate incomes. AARP Foundation Tax -Aide volunteers will be available by appointment every Saturday starting February 4th through April 15th, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Be sure to bring a photo ID and all necessary tax documents, as well as last year’s return forms. For a complete list of important documents to bring click here.

Join others going through grief and loss and receive support in a safe and confidential setting with the facilitation from a ProMedica Hospice Bereavement Coordinator. In this ongoing grief support group, you will have the opportunity to share your experiences with grief, receive insight from peers and the facilitator on the grieving process, and learn more about grief. This group is open to adults experiencing grief from any loss, no matter where they are on this journey.
This grief support group does not replace other mental health services. If you need individual counseling or other mental health services, you can contact the facilitator at (815) 397-3691 or call 211 to find support in your area. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or need immediate attention for a non-life-threatening mental health need, please call 988. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please call 911.
Marianna Galligani, MS is a Bereavement Coordinator with ProMedica Hospice, working with patients, families, and the community in the face of loss. She has a master’s degree in Developmental Psychology from Walden University and is a member of the Association for Death Education and Counseling. Marianna is currently a PhD student researching Thanatology: the study of death and dying.

At our monthly Teen STEM Cafés, we have short talks about STEM fields, related STEM activities and enjoy free Pizza from Hy-Vee. Family members are welcome.

Does your child or tween play some of the popular games like Minecraft, Fortnite, or Roblox? Are you aware that these games and many more have an element of skill sets that are beneficial to their development via education and potential career paths? Through video games we will be extracting those skill sets with professional gamer and Head E-sports Coach for Kishwaukee College, Matthew Hixon, while simultaneously having fun.
