Rebuilding Democracy Lecture Series: NPR's Steve Inskeep

This event, conducted on Zoom, will feature a discussion between NPR's Steve Inskeep and Dean Robert Brinkmann on a variety of topics such as the current state of democracy, the current state of the media and freedom of the press. A moderated question and answer session will follow.

Inskeep is a trusted and seasoned journalist, best known as the host of NPR’s Morning Edition and the morning news podcast Up First. Since joining Morning Edition in 2004, Inskeep has reported from some of the world’s most pivotal locations, delving into the intersection of geopolitics, human migration, and economic shifts. He has traveled 2,428 miles along the U.S.-Mexico border and 2,700 miles across North Africa, bringing firsthand accounts of immigration, conflict, and cultural transformation. He has covered wars in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Afghanistan, offering in-depth analysis beyond the headlines.

He is a frequent guest on “Meet the Press,” “This Week,” and “PBS NewsHour,” and has contributed to leading publications such as “The New York Times,” “Washington Post,” “The Wall Street Journal” and The Atlantic. His investigative work has earned numerous accolades, including a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award for his reporting on conflict in Nigeria and multiple Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Silver Batons for excellence in broadcast journalism.
