Pet Blessing

Pet Blessing

With a large swath of property between Normal Road and Garden Avenue near the NIU campus, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is in a unique position to use the remaining temperate days to offer community events.
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church invites animal lovers to bring their favorite four-legged friends and other creatures to a Community Pet Blessing Celebration, Sunday, October 1, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at 900 Normal Road in DeKalb, IL.
The Pet Blessing is traditionally celebrated on first Sunday in October which is close to the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, who was known for his affection toward animals of all kinds. Animal lovers are invited to bring their pets for a celebration of their life. The Rev. Jane Clark will offer personal blessings for each pet. Pets of all sizes are welcome to attend. St. Paul’s has ample parking for larger pets and livestock as well. Photographs may also be brought to honor pets who prefer not to travel.

The celebration will be held in the front yard of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, located at 900 Normal Road in DeKalb. For the safety and health of the animals, we encourage animals to be present in crates, carriers, and/or on leashes as appropriate. Donations of dog and cat treats, dish soap, hand sanitizer and hand soap, and paper towels for TAILS will also be collected. For more information, contact St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 815-756-4888 or go to our website www.stpaulsdekalb.org.
