NIU LLI: The Dictator’s Playbook
NIU LLI: The Dictator’s Playbook
This class is based on a PBS series that examines how dictators come to power and retain that power. It examines the reign of six men: Kim II Sung, Saddam Hussein, Benito Mussolini, Manuel Noriega, Francisco Franco and Idi Amin. We viewed these videos in 2018 but are repeating this class now because of its relevance in today’s world.
Convener: Carol Zar has convened numerous classes on a variety of subjects.
This class takes place on March 16, 23, 30 and April 6.
