Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra's Arthur D. Montzka Memorial Concert
KSO Concert March 2 Features 14-Year-Old Violinist — Students Admitted Free
The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra (KSO) is set to enchant audiences with the Arthur D. Montzka Memorial Concert on Saturday, March 2. The concert will take place at the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall, located in the Northern Illinois University Music Building, starting at 7:30 pm.
The evening showcases the talents of Neal Kotamarty Eisfeldt, winner of the Arthur D. Montzka Young Artists Concerto Competition held in January. He takes center stage to perform the Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
At just 14 years old, Eisfeldt is already making waves in the classical music scene. His profound musicality has earned him recognition as a rising star. Our concerto competition winner started his violin studies at 3 1/2 years old and made his solo debut at the age of 10, winning first place at the Crescendo International Music Competition in multiple years. He achieved his solo orchestral debut at the age of 11 with the Midwest Philharmonic. To learn more about his journey and achievements, visit https://kishorchestra.org/2024-competition-winner.
The concert program also features masterpieces including The Tragic Overture, Op. 81 by Johannes Brahms and Symphony No. 8 in G Major by Antonin Dvořák. Audiences can expect to be transported through a rich tapestry of orchestral music. Plus, this event provides students the opportunity to experience the magic of live orchestral music and will be admitted free of charge. All audience members are invited to a pre-concert talk led by Linc Smelser, KSO music director, at 6:30 pm in a room near the concert hall.
Tickets can be purchased online or in the concert hall lobby before the performance. For more information regarding ticket purchases, please visit https://kishorchestra.org/ticket-info.
