Jazz in Progress - A Patriotic/Contemporary/Funk/Rock Explosion
Jazz in Progress, DeKalb County’s premier nonprofit community jazz ensemble, invites the public to kick off the July 4th holiday week with a dynamic and high-energy concert experience. Titled “A Patriotic/Contemporary/Funk/Rock Explosion,” the free live performance will take place on Tuesday, July 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Dee Palmer Band Shell in Hopkins Park, located at 1403 Sycamore Road, DeKalb.
This one-of-a-kind concert promises to blend the soul of America’s musical heritage with the power of classic funk grooves and the thrill of rock and contemporary jazz. The band will showcase an exciting setlist packed with vibrant selections from the 1960s and ‘70s funk era, as well as patriotic tributes and modern jazz favorites. Audiences can also look forward to captivating instrumental and vocal solo performances by talented members of the ensemble.
"This concert is more than just a musical event—it’s a celebration of community, freedom, and the diverse sounds that have defined American music," said Jazz in Progress board members. "We’re inviting everyone to bring a blanket or lawn chair, enjoy a beautiful evening outdoors, and get energized for the holiday week ahead."
