Informational Booth: Health Department

Illinois Poison Prevention month takes place every March. The Illinois Poison Center (IPC) manages close to 80,000 cases annually, almost half of which involve children under the age of 5. Nearly all cases from the public can be resolved over the phone. Illinois Poison Center’s free, confidential hotline number is 1-800-222-1222. Visit DeKalb County Health Department’s table in the lobby of the library to learn the importance of IPC’s work to reduce poisoning harm. Promotional materials will be available.

DeKalb County Health Department will also be promoting the Illinois Tobacco Quitline, a free resource for those who want to kick their smoking habit to the curb, for good. They offer information on smoking cessation programs, education on the value of quitting and what to expect, along with free nicotine patches, gum, and lozenges for those who qualify. Call 1-866-QUIT-YES or visit www.quityes.org for more information.

This informational booth is free and open to all.
