The Grand Opening Celebration of the new First United Methodist Church Building here in DeKalb will be on Sunday, September 10!

After 115 years in downtown DeKalb (at Fourth and Oak Sts), the Congregation now has a new home on N. Annie Glidden Rd for fulfilling our mission of Living Faith in Christ through Loving, Connecting and Serving.

A key purpose of the new facility is to serve as a resource for blessing the North Annie Glidden neighborhood, the wider DeKalb community, and the world beyond through collaboration and partnerships.

Here's what will be happening on Sept. 10:

Morning Worship: We will begin the day with a special Worship Service and Building Dedication at 10:00 AM with our Northern Illinois Annual Conference Bishop Dan Schwerin.

Festival of Food and Fun: From 12:30 -2:30 PM we plan to have food and festivities including food, games, face-painting, kite-flying, live music and activities for all ages. Local organizations will have tables with activities and information. We will also offer tours of the new facility.

Community Celebration Concert and Service: At 3:00 PM a special service and concert for the community will be held featuring the FUMC Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, Praise and Worship Team, and the Celebration Chorale. Civic and community leaders
