EYSO Concert: Palette

EYSO Concert: Palette
The Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestras take music from black and white to technicolor in their concerts on March 9, 2025. With PALETTE, the talented young musicians of EYSO showcase the full spectrum of orchestral color and texture with music by George Gershwin, Julius Fučík, Claude Debussy, Jennifer Higdon, and many others.
On Sunday, March 9, at 7:00 pm, the EYSO Youth Symphony transports audiences to bustling, light-filled New York City in George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, featuring guest pianist Alyssa Arrigo, and to the plains of the wild west in a special side-by-side performance of Aaron Copland’s Hoe-Down with EYSO’s youngest Primo ensemble. In two concerts earlier in the day (1:30 and 4:30), the Philharmonia orchestra takes audiences on another jazzy Gershwin excursion with An American in Paris, Sinfonia goes to the circus with big top music that audiences will recognize immediately, and the Prelude string orchestra performs a not so Simple Symphony.
