The next program in the Arts in Action series is a Community Read featuring the book, Stella by Starlight by Sharon Draper. This story written for young adults, but an interesting read for all ages, takes place in North Carolina during the 1930s. Topics include racial discrimination, voting intimidation and social separation, but also a strong sense of community during difficult times for Black families. Copies of the book are available at the DeKalb Public Library.
