Event Description

McHenry County Conservation District invites you to view “Listen to the Land” an art exhibit by Karen Stahlecker on display September 15-October 14 with an Artist Reception: Sunday, September 30 from 1–4 p.m. at Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, Rt. 31 and Harts Rd., Ringwood. This exhibit is free and is open to the public Daily, 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m.: closed September 3.
Inspired by nature, landscapes, and trees, Listen to the Land is an exhibition selected from two bodies of artwork by Karen Stahlecker. Earlier pieces explore tree motifs created as stylized, ethereal wall pieces that highlight her 30-year career in hand papermaking. More recent wearable art pieces, created with mixed materials, explore local landscapes and other natural objects. These pieces often feature vitreous (hot glass) enamels done on hand shaped copper.
