Mississippi jail escapee is found dead after an armed standoff, police say
Plumes of smoke emanated from the charred remains of the home in Mississippi hours after a body was recovered. Dylan Arrington, 22, perished inside the home, authorities said.

Clinton Loans Campaign $5 Million
Two days after Super Tuesday, Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are preparing for a drawn-out, expensive duel that could last months before either one gets enough delegates to claim the nomination. Clinton announced Wednesday that she had loaned her campaign $5 million.

First Contact Yields No Sign of Life in Mine Collapse
There is still no indication the trapped miners are alive after being cut off by a mountain of rock some 1,500 feet underground. Early Friday, crews drilling holes in a Utah mountain lowered a microphone to the spot where the collapse occurred, but heard no sounds. The mine's owner remains hopeful.
Ivins Attorney: Government's Case Is 'Speculation'
The U.S. government released evidence this week in its case against Bruce Ivins, who killed himself last month after he learned he would be charged in the 2001 anthrax mailing attacks. The prosecution presented its arguments in a news conference instead of a courtroom, which left Ivins' attorney, Paul Kemp, unsatisfied.

Tiger Woods arrested on suspicion of DUI, authorities say
Woods was arrested on suspicion of DUI after he struck another vehicle and rolled his Land Rover, not far from where he lives on Jupiter Island, Florida. The sheriff's office said he was not injured.
