The Rockford Board of Election Commissioners is continuing to take requests for mail-in ballots, and has mailed out even more.
Executive Director Stacey Bixby said voter registration is over, but people coming to the Board’s office can do what’s called “Grace Period Registration” until the day before the election.
“You can register, but you’ll have to vote right here in our office that day," Bixby said. "Registration online closes October 18th, so if you have a valid driver’s license or a valid state ID, you can register to vote online until October 18th.”
The Board initially mailed out 46,000 vote-by-mail applications, with 17,000 being returned. Bixby says they’re receiving hundreds more requests daily. You can find more information on voting and ballot submission at voterockford.com
