City Of Rockford Assisting Restaurants With Future Outdoor Seating
The City of Rockford is making it easier for restaurants to open or increase business as the state eases COVID-related restrictions.
On Thursday, Governor J.B. Pritzker indicated that restaurants could possibly open upoutdoor dining spots beginning in June. In response, Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara said the City will provide help to local establishments in setting these areas up.
“We will be waiving all permit fees associated with outdoor seating areas for restaurants on public and private property. We will be allowing for temporary outdoor seating areas in private parking lots, sidewalks, public lots, and alleys, while still keeping staff and customers safe.”
But whether restaurants are actually allowed to open up outdoor dining space will require approval from the State.
