The Woman They Could Not Silence

The Woman They Could Not Silence

This is an historic portrayal of Elizabeth Packard who was wrongly committed to an Illinois insane asylum in 1860 by her husband. Laura Keyes has been doing portrayals of historic figures since 2008 and due to in depth research by Kate Moore, the author of the book "The Woman They Could Not Silence," she will use some of Elizabeth's own words from her memoir and other writings. Elizabeth regained her freedom and went on to advocate for women's rights in Illinois and elsewhere.
