Putnam County Public Library District Hosts “Sun Print Science: Creating Art with UV Light”

The Putnam County Public Library District will host “Sun Print Science: Creating Art with UV Light,” on Wednesday, August 13th at 4:00 p.m. at the McNabb Branch, 322 W. Main Street, McNabb.

Participants will explore the science behind UV-sensitive sun print paper, learning how ultraviolet rays interact with specially coated materials to produce striking blue-and-white cyanotype-style images. Using natural objects like leaves, flowers, participants can design their own compositions and watch as the sun develops them into lasting works of art. This interactive experience blends art, solar energy, and light-sensitive reactions, providing a fun and educational way to learn about UV radiation and photochemistry. Whether you're a budding scientist, young artist, or curious explorer, this program offers a unique opportunity to discover the magic of light through hands-on discovery.
