Poetry Reading by Dave Oliphant

Award winning poet, translator and author Dave Oliphant is coming home to NIU and DeKalb. As a graduate student in the 1970s, he studied English at NIU and earned his Ph.D.in 1975. This evening of poetry includes works he wrote during that time, some of which will be debuting at this event. He went on to teach writing at the University of Texas at Austin and publish many books of poetry, such as María's Poems (1987), Memories of Texas Towns and Cities (2000), and The Cowtown Circle (2014). In addition to his translations of the Chilean poets Nicanor Parra and Enrique Lihn, he has published extensively on jazz.
