Movie Matinee: My Garden of a Thousand Bees

Movie Matinee: My Garden of a Thousand Bees

The Putnam County Public Library District will host a Movie Matinee film screening of the documentary, “My Garden of a Thousand Bees,” on Tuesday, April 1st, at 1:00 p.m.

From giant bumblebees to scissor bees which are the size of a mosquito, acclaimed wildlife filmmaker, Martin Dohrn, has observed more than sixty species of bees in his tiny urban yard in Bristol, England. Sidelined by the pandemic, Dohrn decided to film the incredible variety of wild bees in his garden. Dohrn, an expert in macro photography, unveiled a bee-filled universe inhabited by winged creatures of every size and shape. Filmed with one-of-a-kind handcrafted lenses, this film illuminates the audience with unique natural history insights, and depths of behaviors never recorded before.

The film is fifty-four minutes in length and is rated G. Following the conclusion of the film, an Ambassador with SciStarter, an online database for Citizen Science projects, will share related information and resources. The film is made possible through public performance rights by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI). The Granville Library is located at 214 S. McCoy Street, Granville.
