Burning Cicada Arts and Music Picnic Festival 2024
The Burning Cicada Arts and Music Picnic Festival 2024 will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 21st at Hopkins Park. The Park is located at 1403 Sycamore Road, DeKalb, IL.
The Dee Palmer Bandshell will host our musical guests, while the adjacent West shelter will house discussions and workshops. Other tent vending will occur on the park grounds close to the shelter. Our event will conclude at 7:00 p.m. as dusk sets upon the park.
Our mission for This year's festival is to provide a context for others to speak their voice through Song, Art, and the experience of talking and connecting with others. To this end, we are honored to partner with local community resources that encourage growth, discussion, and a potential purposeful healing journey.
Music performances this year will include Renee Nanzer, Gavin Wilson and Roger Hintzche, Dori Burg, Steve Deiss, Daerielle Balika, Chaos A Chord, and others, to be announced on Ticketbud, where our free general admission tickets can be found to register for the event.
Our food vendor for the day will be Tamales Los Girasoles. Live art will be performed by KVAL artist Wayne Roe and Jubilee artist Marty Gniech. Other local artisan tent vendors will be set up in the park by the West shelter.
Our Speakers for the day include Jana Roe, who has published her book Burned My Journey Through Addiction. Also Speaking and providing direct resources at the Festival will be Safe Passage, NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Ben Gordon Center mobile Living Room, and Family Service Agency.
Should it be of interest or value, explore these resources directly at the festival as that is why they are present and available for free.
Free Community Resource Discussions, Meet, and Greets with the performers, as well as Sonic Workshops with I Play With Sound, will be featured in the West shelter adjacent to the Dee Palmer Bandshell throughout the day.
