Arts in Action: “Sharing Stories" -- Opening Reception
Arts in Action: “Sharing Stories,” an exhibit developed in collaboration between the Ellwood House Museum and DeKalb County History Center, opens on June 28 with a public reception.
The Arts in Action project began in 2020 as the museums committed to shifting the local history narrative from a predominantly white experience to a more inclusive and accurate account, specifically acknowledging the missing Black and Latino voices.
The exhibit explores themes of fear, exclusion, community, and hope through firsthand accounts, historical research, and works by local artists, with community members sharing their stories in their own words.
The reception will be held from 5pm until 8pm on Saturday, June 28 at the Ellwood House Museum, located at 420 Linden Place in DeKalb. Parking is available on-site.
Arts in Action is funded by a grant from Healing Illinois. Healing Illinois is funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services in partnership with The Field Foundation of Illinois.
