Congresswoman Cheri Bustos is joining a chorus of lawmakers condemning President Trump’s demands to talk to the whistleblower who lodged a complaint against him.

Trump is referring to the individual as his “accuser” and claims they are spreading lies about his communication with Ukraine’s leader. Bustos says the whistleblower has a right to stay anonymous.

“For the President of the United States to have veiled threats against his safety is obviously another form of trying to cover up the truth or try to bury the truth," she said. "I think we all should be alarmed about that.”

Bustos also called President Trump’s suggestion that his impeachment would incite a Civil War “unconscionable.”

But the Democrat stopped short of supporting the impeachment efforts against the president.
