Latinas Less Susceptible To Breast Cancer Thanks To Unique Gene

Hispanic women have a gene variant that protects them from breast cancer.

That's according to a University of California, San Francisco studypublished in the journal Nature Communications.

Women with the gene, known as a single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), show less dense breast tissues in mammograms. High density breast tissue is considered a breast cancer risk factor.

The study was funded by grants from the National Cancer Institute.
