It’s getting more difficult for journalists to do their jobs under the Obama administration: that’s according to New York Times Executive Editor Jill Abramson. And it doesn’t set a very good example for governments at every level.

Abramson will talk about the importance of a truly free press at the YWCA of Rockford’s upcoming Leader Luncheon. The event usually features women who are leaders in male-dominated industries: Abramson is the first woman to oversee “All the news that’s fit to print” in the paper’s 163-year history. She spoke with WNIJ’s Susan Stephens about the new roadblocks her reporters are facing, as well as the need for diversity in leadership.
