NIU Anthropology Museum Gets A New Name

The Anthropology museum at Northern Illinois University has been renamed to honor the contributors of a major gift.

Founded in 1964, the NIU museum will now be known as the James B. and Rosalyn L. Pick Museum of Anthropology. JamesB. Pick is an alumnus of NIU with a master's degree in education.

The gift from the Picks created an unrestricted endowment. It allowed the museum to apply for and receive two significant grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Institute for Museum and Library Services.

Those funds enable the museum to receive matching grants to enhance museum collections and programs. Pick has also been a member of the NIU Foundation Board of Directors since 2014.
