Public Reception for Chris Perkovich: The First Seventy Years, A Solo Art Retrospective

Public Reception for Chris Perkovich: The First Seventy Years, A Solo Art Retrospective

Rather than rue the passage of time, Chris Perkovich is celebrating her first 70 years as an artist with a retrospective art exhibit at the DeKalb Area Women's Center. A public reception takes place Saturday, May 7. The show will be on view to the public from 7-9pm on Fridays in May.

The show is a visual documentation of her journey to DeKalb before and after 1970.

Chris is an NIU School of Art and NIU Department of Education alumnae, a retired DeKalb District 428 teacher, and current art teacher for Creston Elementary, Creston, Illinois.

The show includes art from each decade of her life. Media used includes pencil, charcoal, watercolor, oil, acrylic paints and cloth.
Photo documentation of local murals, fire hydrants, collaborative art work with elementary students, and art work supporting literacy for DeKalb Public Library and local teachers is also on view.
