Are Women's Reproductive Rights Health Care Rights?

Are Women's Reproductive Rights Health Care Rights?

The position of the League of Women Voters of Illinois is that “Every US resident should have access to affordable, quality health care, including birth control and the privacy to make reproductive choices.” The Freeport League’s 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 24 program addresses the question, “Are Women’s Reproductive Rights Health Care Rights?”

Collaborating on the presentation are Dr. Michelle Sandoff, associate professor of sociology at Rockford University and Wanda Hoover representing the Winnebago County Citizens for Choice.

Dr. Sandoff holds a master’s and Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Maryland. Her areas of interest and expertise include social inequities, diversity, and inclusion as well as issues related to gender, sexuality, race, and religion.

Wanda Hoover holds a master’s degree in health education from ISU and a second ISU master’s in counseling. She was a child therapist at Rockford’s Mildred Berry Center and was active in the foundation of Winnebago County Citizens for Choice.

All voters and interested members of the public are invited to hear more about the League’s 2023 heath care position at the January 24 presentation.
