The Wisconsin Grocers Association is pushing to allow customers to get fresh beer on tap at grocery stores. 

Most grocery stores in the state have a license allowing them to sell packaged alcohol. The association wants to let customers refill half-gallon glass containers, known as growlers, at stores.

There is no current legislation in Wisconsin. But the grocers association is asking state residents to voice their opinion on their website.

The Department of Natural Resources says hunters should treat every firearm like it's loaded and always point the muzzle in a safe direction.

Wisconsin Gov. Candidates Meet For Final Debate Tonight

Wisconsin Republican Governor Scott Walker and Democratic challenger Mary Burke are scheduled to meet for their second and final debate.

Tonight's debate in Milwaukee will be broadcast nationwide.

The one-hour debate begins at 7 p.m. It is being broadcast live on about 100 radio and television stations, including statewide on public television and nationally on C-SPAN.

Walker argues he turned around the state's economy. Burke says Walker failed in his first term and isn't advocating for the middle class.

Wisconsin will recognize hundreds of same-sex marriages that were performed in the state in June.

After an appeals court put Wisconsin's voter ID law back into effect, the Supreme Court voted to put the law on hold while the justices decide whether to take the case.

The US 7th Circuit Court of Appeals has reinstated the Wisconsin law that requires voters to have photo identification cards.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking public input as it works with the states to develop a plan for habitat conservation while promoting clean energy.

Some species of bats are particularly vulnerable to striking turbines at wind energy facilities. Fish and Wildlife representative Georgia Parham says one solution may be for wind energy companies to change how they operate turbines.

Mixed Showings For GOP Veterans In Fla., Wis.

Two longtime Republicans, former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson and Rep. John Mica of Florida, turned back conservative challengers in primaries on Tuesday while 12-term Rep. Cliff Stearns of Florida was trailing tea party challenger Ted Yoho, a veterinarian and political novice.

Yoho's strong showing was the surprise of the night as four states held primaries, including Connecticut and Minnesota. He was ahead of Stearns by less than 900 votes, complete but unofficial primary results showed.

The drought in southern Wisconsin has been officially declared severe, and all of Illinois is now officially in a drought … but there is one crop that seems to be doing fine despite the hot weather.

Officials at the National Drought Mitigation Center in Nebraska say Cook County is fully in a moderate drought for the first time this year. ... But that isn't the worst of it.

Far southern Illinois is designated as being in an exceptional drought, which is the most serious classification. 

Small margin, big turnout expected in Wisconsin vote

Both sides of the recall election targeting Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker are prepared for a razor-thin margin as the Republican tries to become the first U.S. governor to successfully fend off a recall effort.

Also targeted in today’s voting are Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and majority control of the state Senate.

A record turnout -- estimated as high as 65 percent of registered voters – is expected. Polls opened at 7 a.m., and voting continues until 8 p.m.
