Biden Rallies Illinois Democrats Ahead Of Tuesday

President Donald Trump rallied Republicans in southern Illinois over the weekend. This week, a prominent Democrat returned the favor. Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden made a stop in St. Charles on Wednesday to drum up support for 14th congressional candidate Lauren Underwood. She faces Republican incumbent Randy Hultgren.

Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden is coming to Illinois this week to drum up support for several Democratic congressional candidates.

Biden will host a rally Wednesday morning at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles to urge people to vote for Lauren Underwood in Illinois' 14th District. Biden formally endorsed Underwood in September.

Biden and Underwood will also encourage supporters to vote early.

Lemont’s Argonne National Laboratory and their partner institutions will receive $120 million from the U.S. Department of Energy.  The funding renews the Joint Center for Energy Storage Research (JCESR), a Department of Energy project devoted to battery science and technology led by Argonne.

 

Congressman Randy Hultgren of northern Illinois is a member of the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. He says research into energy storage is key in making renewable energy sources more accessible.

A northern Illinois Congressman is part of a bipartisan effort to help veterans whose credit is affected adversely by problems associated with the federal Veterans Choice Program.

A northern Illinois congressman is not throwing his name into consideration for the Speaker of the House, but he does have a few suggestions.

Republican Representative Randy Hultgren says before his colleagues pick a leader, they need to be “leadable.”

“I would love to see Trey Gowdy do it. I think he is a really good guy... very smart.... [and has] great background as a prosecutor.”

He also supports Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, but says he doesn’t blame either if they aren’t up to it.

It looks like Congress can avert a government shutdown, as tomorrow’s deadline to approve a spending bill approaches. Northern Illinois Congressman Randy Hultgren says there’s still a lot to pull together in the next few days.

The budget bill that cleared the U.S. House Wednesday received widespread support from Illinois' Congressional delegation.

Congress members – like most of the world -- appear to be taking a “wait and see” stance on Syria. 

Illinois' 14th Congressional District primary looked to be a hot one, but national interest declined after Republican Congressman Joe Walsh dropped his challenge to the incumbent in the district, Randy Hultgren.
