Wisconsin Voter ID Law Ruled Constitutional

A federal appeals court has found Wisconsin's voter photo ID law to be constitutional.

The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals issued its 23-page opinion today, reversing a lower court's decision.

In September, the appeals court struck down an injunction, thus reinstating the law. Since then, Wisconsin officials have scrambled to implement the ID requirements in time for the November elections.

On October 2, opponents of the voter ID law filed papers with the US Supreme Court. They are asking the nation's highest court to block the ID requirements until after November's elections.
