SIU Trustees Will Consider Tuition Freeze for 2020-2021

SIU Trustees will consider freezing tuition and fees when they meet next week.

Board Chair Phil Gilbert says he's been in contact with Vice Chair Ed Hightower and administrators on each campus, and he believes holding the line on costs for students and their families is a top priority for the university.

In December, leaders in Carbondale and Edwardsville reported increases in applications to each campus. Gilbert and other administrators say if those applications turn into enrolled students, that will help offset cost increases.

Incoming President Dan Mahony, who starts March first, says making college affordable is also among his top priorities.
