Rockford Dance Company Names New Executive Director

Rockford Dance Company

The Rockford Dance Company has picked a new executive director with local ties.

In its announcement, the Rockford Dance Company's Board of Directors said CarmCavallaroRongere's "experience in management leadership, the performing arts, and nonprofit organizations will support the advancement of the mission of the dance company, the school, and the outreach efforts in the greater Rockford Community."

According to the announcement, Rongere, a Rockford native,  completed her undergraduate studies at Capella University, Minneapolis, MN, with a focus on organizational management and business ethics.  Her background includes project management with the LIVESTRONG at YMCA, production manager for the Legal Follies, and event management for other nonprofit organizations.  She has extensive experience as a costume designer and theatrical seamstress.  Her costume designs have been seen on stage with the Artist Ensemble Theater, Rock Valley College, and the Rockford Symphony Orchestra.

Also in the announcement, Board President Laura Mruk says that Carm's qualifications are a perfect match for the dance company as they move into the 40th Year Ruby Jubilee Season.  Mruk says, "Carm brings both back stage experience and a business perspective to the dance company.  She is well known in the Rockford theater community and we are excited to have her on board."

Rongere replaces Cindy Jo Savitski-Lantz, who resigned from the company this fall after 11 years as executive director to become managing director with Chicago Dramatist.

Guy Stephens produces news stories for the station, and coordinates our online events calendar, PSAs and Arts Calendar announcements. In each of these ways, Guy helps keep our listening community informed about what's going on, whether on a national or local level. Guy's degrees are in music, and he spent a number of years as a classical host on WNIU. In fact, after nearly 20 years with Northern Public Radio, the best description of his job may be "other duties as required."
