The Chicago Rockford International Airport is touting the number of workers being sought to fill nearly 2,300 permanent and seasonal jobs with tenant companies.

That number is among the largest job-growth and economic-impact opportunities in the Rockford region in years, according to a news release from the airport authority.

The largest number of job openings is 2,000 part- and full-time positions at the UPS Rockford Air Hub -- the largest number of seasonal jobs since the facility opened in 1994. The available jobs are primarily package handlers, drivers and driver helpers, with hourly wages starting at $11 plus attendance bonuses.

UPS says 35 percent of the seasonal package handlers in the past three years were hired for permanent positions after the holidays. More information is available at the company's employment website

AAR Corp. -- which opened its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at the Rockford airport late last year -- plans to double its employee roster from 125 to 250 by the end of the year. They are seeking aircraft mechanics, leads and inspectors. Details are available at the company website.

Pinnacle Logistics, a cargo-warehousing operation will add five additional daily flights in November that will continue through the holiday season. They are seeking both seasonal and permanent workers for full-time and part-time positions as warehouse agents, forklift operators, and supervisors. Hourly pay starts at $11, with weekly attendance bonuses. Applications are accepted at Indeed.com and at 60 Airport Drive, Rockford.
