#ProudlyDeKalb Holding Town Hall Meeting Thursday

Proudly DeKalb, Inc.

The #ProudlyDeKalb movement is holding a town hall meeting Thursday to discuss its area development plan.

The group has made it to the top 15 of the America’s Best Communities competition, which will award $3 Million to the city with the best development strategy.   Project CEO Cohen Barnes says public feedback from the meeting will be invaluable when it comes to refining the plan for the next round of judging in Durham, North Carolina.

“Someone’s gonna walk on stage, present in front of a panel of judges, as well as the other 14 communities, and their members are going to be present in the auditorium as well, and we’ve got 10 minutes to convince them why DeKalb should be selected and move on to the top 8,” he says.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Thursday in DeKalb's Egyptian Theater, located at 135 N. 2nd Street.  If #ProudlyDeKalb advances to the next round, it will receive an initial prize of $100,000.  The contest is sponsored by Frontier Communications.

More information on the area development plan can be found at #ProudlyDeKalb's website.
