Northern Illinois Company Pivots From Rock-N-Roll To PPE

It's hard to say who misses live events the most. Is it the talent? The audience? Maybe it's the producers. For the Sycamore-based company Upstaging, Inc., they are high on that list, too. But once the stay-at-home order was executed, spokesperson Chanon DiCarlo says the nearly 40-year-old company turned from providing lighting and video systems for rock-n-roll shows to providing personal protective equipment for essential workers.

DiCarlo, who has been with Upstaging for 21 years, said, "It was an immediate pivot, with PPE being the greatest need."

Upstaging's emergency response products and services include protective room dividers and fog-free face shields that can be used by first responders, nursing home staff, mental health employees, and retailers. The company has also found time and resources to donate some of their face shields to the Sycamore Fire Department.
