NIU student Trevor Wehner was among those killed when Gary Martin opened fire at the Henry Pratt Co. Friday afternoon. According to the release, Friday was the first day of Wehner's internship at the company.

2014 alumnus Clay Parks was also killed Friday. Parks graduated from the school's College of Business and worked as a human resources manager at the company.

The Feb. 15, 2019 shooting came as the campus community marked the Feb. 14, 2008 mass shooting which claimed the lives of five students.

The Aurora Prayer Coalition in collaboration with city officials, area churches and the group Crosses For Losses will hold a community wide prayer vigil Sunday, Feb. 17 at 2:30 p.m. near the Pratt Building on S. Highland Ave. in Aurora.

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

It is with deep sadness that I write today to share that NIU student Trevor Wehner and alumnus Clay Parks were killed yesterday afternoon in the workplace shooting at Henry Pratt Co. in Aurora, IL.  Trevor was from Sheridan, IL, and expected to graduate in May with a degree in Human Resource Management.  Friday was his first day as an intern at Henry Pratt.  Clay was a 2014 graduate of the College of Business and worked as a human resources manager.

Loss like this is devastating and senseless. I ask our university community to please keep the Wehner and Parks families, friends and communities in your hearts and offer them caring thoughts.
