Nicklas Will Leave NIU This Fall

A top administrator at Northern Illinois University is stepping down. Bill Nicklas' retirement takes effect November 1st.Nicklas currently serves as Vice President of Operations and Community Relations. The 66-year-old was hired in 2011 to take on the role of associate vice president for institutional planning and sustainability.

He later oversaw a transition for the public safety department following a police scandal. After wearing many professional hats over the past few years, Nicklas says he now wants to spend more time with his family.

Prior to his time at NIU, Nicklas served as city manager for DeKalb and Sycamore in separate stints.
