Members of Illinois' 98th General Assembly were sworn in today in Springfield. There are a number of new faces -- but the four at the top remain the same.

House Speaker Michael Madigan was easily re-elected to the position. He has been House Speaker since 1983, except for a two-year period where Republicans had control of the House.  The powerful Chicago Democrat also serves as chair of the Illinois Democratic Party. His daughter, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, also attended today's ceremonies.

Republican Tom Cross was re-elected minority leader.

The new Illinois Senate was also sworn in today, then chose John Cullerton again as Senate president. This is the Chicago Democrat's third term as leader of the Senate.

Republican Senator Christine Radogno was again chosen as minority leader.
