McHenry County getting new hospital

A proposed hospital project in the northern Illinois county is moving forward. A separate hospital project in the same countyawaits another look from regulators.

Earlier this week, the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board reversed course and approved a new hospital for the village of Huntley. The board had rejected the plans in prior votes.

Centegra Health System is behind the project. Officials say they hope to begin treating patients at the facility in 2016.

Elsewhere in McHenry County, Mercy Health System is still hoping to build a new hospital in Crystal Lake. Later this year, the provider will have its appeal heard by the review board.  Like Centegra, Mercy had its plans rejected by the board on two separate occasions.
