Loves Park mayor Darryl Lindberg says he won’t seek a sixth term in office.
The longtime mayor tells the Rockford Register-Star he is leaving because the city is in a good financial state. Alderman John Pruitt announced his candidacy to replace Lindberg when the mayor’s term ends April 30th.
Mayor Lindberg has a long history of public service in Loves Park. He first served as a volunteer firefighter in the 1960s and then moved into law enforcement. Lindberg was the city's police chief for 18 years, until he became mayor in 1997.
