Two public-employee unions say the state has agreed to delay layoffs of Illinois State Museum staff, conservation police officers and other state workers.
Gov. Bruce Rauner's administration announced earlier this summer that more than 100 positions were targeted for layoffs on Sept. 30 because of the state budget crisis. They included 33 conservation police officers and about 65 staff members at the state museums.
The unions sued, saying the state was violating labor contracts.
American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees spokesman Anders Lindall says the Rauner administration informed unions on Friday it's delaying the layoffs pending court action.
Police Benevolent and Protective Association director Sean Smoot says the conservation officer layoffs have been ``delayed indefinitely.''
Rauner's office didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
