Funeral Services Are Set For Rockford Broadcaster Mark Mayhew

Services for a long-time Rockford radio personality are being held Saturday. Mark Mayhew died Tuesday, one week before his 61st birthday. He had suffered a heart attack last week.

Mayhew was a reporter and a talk show host with WNTA for 20 years, where he earned the nickname “Mr. Know-It-All.” Most recently, he was an assignment editor at WREX television.

Mayhew was a fan of travel and unusual vintage cars. He often paired both interests during road trips, especially along legendary Route 66. His coffee mug collection inspired a Facebook tribute from friends and co-workers, #MarksMugs

Visitation starts Saturday at 1:00 at Honquest Funeral Home in Loves Park, with a time of sharing at 3:00.

Susan is an award-winning reporter/writer at her favorite radio station. She's also WNIJ's Perspectives editor, Under Rocks contributor, and local host of All Things Considered.
