Former Illinois Commerce Commission employee Jonathan Feipel returns to that department on Wednesday, this time as executive director. Feipel, 37, worked in several positions in the Telecommunications Division for seven years, concluding as Assistant Director.
He moved to the state commerce department, where he supervised the Illinois Energy Office.
Commission chairman Doug Scott, former mayor of Rockford, says Feipel is the right person for the job.
“There are tremendous new challenges and opportunities for the Commission as we move forward, from smart grid investments, to more customer choice, to understanding better what our energy future will be in Illinois,” Scott said.
“Jonathan brings a wealth of experience in all of those areas and more. He will work very well with other state and federal agencies, as well as with the legislature and the stakeholders as we chart that future.”
Feipel will direct a staff of approximately 250 located in three offices.
