Eddie Williams: Job History At NIU

Northern Illinois University Executive Vice President Eddie Williams has returned to the campus after nearly two months of paid leave.  Here is an overview of his employment history with NIU.  Information was provided to WNIJ through a Freedom of Information Act Request.

Williams has served at NIU for 42 years.

According to NIU, Williams was commissioned in the U.S. Naval Reserves in 1980. He was promoted to captain in 1992 and retired from the reserves in 2007.

Williams received his Ph.D. in mathematics from Columbia University. NIU for more than 40 years.

Williams started at NIU in 1970 as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics with a base salary of $12,600.00 with a nine-month contract. He was named Associate Professor in 1978 and continued meeting his teaching assignments in math while also serving as the Acting Associate Budget Officer in the Office of Budget and Planning.

In 1983, he was promoted to Deputy Director in the Office of Budget and Planning.

From 2000 to 2012, he was Vice President of Finance and Planning/Director of Budget and Planning. Throughout that time, he received incremental increases each year with the exception of 2009 and 2010.

He still is listed as an adjunct Associate Professor of Complex Variables and Mathematics Education in the Department of Mathematical Sciences.

As of Jan. 1, 2012, Williams had a salary of $303, 684.72
