DeKalb Doctor Pleads Guilty To Tax Fraud, Illegally Dispensing Drugs

Mayo Clinic News Network

Dr. Richard Ng pleaded guilty in a Federal court in Rockford to illegally dispensing drugs.

The physician operated the Sauk Medical Clinic in DeKalb and Sterling.  According to plea reports, he dispensed drugs such as hydrocodone, oxycodone, and morphine sulfate outside the course of professional practice and without a legitimate medical purpose.  Investigators says he provided the drugs to undercover federal agents after a minimal examination, even after hearing from the undercover officers that they were sharing pills.

The Rockford Register-Star also reports Ng and his wife filed false individual tax returns in 2011.  By failing to report income on the Sauk Medical Clinic and rental receipts, they avoided paying more than $92,000 in income taxes.

Ng faces up to 13 years in prison, supervised release for life and a fine up to $1.1 million. His sentencing is set for December 19th.

His wife, Lee Lee Foong, faces three years in prison, up to one year of supervised release, and a fine of up to $100,000.
