Consolidated Election Results, County By County

Compiled below – county by county – are links to the unofficial results from the Consolidated General Election, To access links to the vote totals, as provided by the appropriate election officials, click on the county (or election office) name.

Boone County

The countywide referendum to increase the existing Public Safety Sales Tax by one half percent – or 5 cents on a $10 purchase -- for public safety purposes was defeated by more than 11 percentage points.

Three Belvidere aldermanic races were contested:

  • Ward 1: Independent Tom Porter defeated Republican David Deckert 57.24% to 47.26%.
  • Ward 2: Republican incumbent Daniel Arevalo lost to independent Michael Borowicz by four votes.
  • Ward 5: Independent Marsha Freeman squeaked out a two-vote win over Republican incumbent John Sanders.

Republican incumbent City Clerk Shauna Arco defeated independent Joanne Riley by 245 votes. The mayor’s race was decided in February when incumbent Mike Chamberlain won the Republican primary.
Bureau County

Six candidates were contending for two seats on the Princeton City Commission, and six hopefuls were seeking two seats on the Princeton Park District board.

The Princeton Elementary School District in Bureau and Putnam Counties wants to raise the education fund tax rate from 1.4% to a maximum of 2.1% of the taxable property value for 2017 and following years.

Voters in the Bradford School District in Stark, Bureau and Marshall Counties are being asked to allow at-large election of board members without restriction by area of residence.

The Bureau Valley School District in Bureau, Whiteside and Lee Counties is asking voters to approve $17 million in bonds to build a new school in Sheffield; add classrooms, a science lab and a performance gymnasium at Bureau Valley High School; and improve the Bureau Valley North school building site.

The Mineral-Gold Fire Protection District in Bureau County and the Neponset Fire Protection District in Bureau and Stark Counties are separately seeking approval for a special tax of not more than 0.30% of taxable property value to provide ambulance service.

Carroll County

Unofficial results show Ken Viglietta winning the mayoral election in Lanark by two percentage points. Chris Lain is a runaway winner for mayor of Savanna. Bonnie Heckman-Foust won the village president race in Shannon by nearly 20 percentage points.

DeKalb County

A countywide referendum seeking to raise the Property Tax Extension Limitation Law rate for public health services was defeated 56% to 44%.

Challenger Jerry Smith garnered 48% of the vote to unseat incumbent DeKalb Mayor John Rey, who compiled 19.3%.  Wards 2, 4 and 6 had aldermanic contests.

In Sycamore, Curtis Lang will be the new Sycamore Mayor with 45% of the vote. Candy Smith was second at 36% and Rick Kramer was third with 19% of the vote. Mary Kalk led a field of five candidates to become City Clerk.

The City of Sandwich narrowly approved a one percent sales tax to pay for municipal operations, public infrastructure, or property tax relief, but the Sandwich School District request to increase the base for bonds repayment was defeated by more than four percentage points.

The Genoa Township proposal to levy a new tax for the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund was defeated soundly, with 69% voting no.

Tax increases requested by the Kirkland Community Fire District, the Hampshire Fire Protection District, and the Burlington Community Fire Protection District all were rejected by voters.

DuPage County

Villa Park voters approved both a sales tax increase of 0.5% for public infrastructure and $10.6 million in bonds to remodel and enlarge the Villa Park Public Library.

Voters in the Village of Woodridge dedcided the village clerk should not be appointed rather than elected.

Bloomingdale Township approved an annual property tax of not more than 0.15% to establish community mental health facilities.

Addison Township won approval of all three advisory propositions:

  • Making the O’Hare Airport “Fly Quiet” program permanent.
  • Increasing property tax exemptions.
  • Pursuing consolidation of government offices with no elected oversight.

Milton Township voters also approved three advisory questions:

  • Cooperation with Glen Ellyn and Wheaton for mosquito abatement.
  • Authorize the Township Assessor to continue lobbying for lower property taxes.
  • Expanding the Senior Services Program.

Consolidating the Naperville and Lisle Township road districts into a single district was approved in both townships.
The Wheaton Warrenville School District request for $132.5 million in bonds for projects and various buildings was rejected by 9 percentage points.

Benjamin School District wants to increase bond repayments from $582,671.48 to $997,500 for the 2018 levy year and all subsequent levy years, with increases each year of the lesser of 5% or the percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index.

Glen Ellyn School District won approval for $24.2 million in bonds to build an addition to Hadley Junior High School and make improvements at four elementary schools by a margin of 11 votes.

Center Cass School District voters approved $12.91 million in bonds for additions and improvements to Elizabeth Ide and Lakeview Junior High Schools and Prairieview School.

Hinsdale Township High School District request to issue $76 million in bonds to improve two high school campuses was soundly rejected.

West Chicago High School proposal for $37.5 million in  bonds to upgrade the West Chicago High School building with an addition and repairs was approved by a nearly 2-to-1 margin.

The Elgin School District will need voter approval before increasing its annual total property tax levy.

The Fox River and Countryside Fire-Rescue District rejected an increase in its property tax limitation by a two votes.

The Bartlett Fire Protection District was denied approval to increase its tax limitation to 19.5% for levy year 2017.

The Itasca Fire Protection District proposes an increase of 0.195% for fire and emergency medical services for levy year 2015 and set the rate at 1.0522% for levy year 2017.

Jo Daviess County

Wayne Raisbeck won the Warren Mayoral seat by 136 votes over Travus Albrecht.

The Galena School District was denied approval of $21.8 million in bonds to build a new school and improve the Galena Middle School building.

The Stockton Fire and Ambulance Protection District won approval for $250,000 in bonds to repair and improve the Stockton Fire Station.

Kane County

Seven candidates are seeking four seats on the Elgin City Council.

Kevin Burns won the Geneva mayoral race.

Jeffrey D. Walter won a three-way race for Elburn village president.

The Kane County Forest Preserve District is seeking approval for $50 million in bonds to acquire and maintain new preserves.

Elgin Township proposes a new tax of 0.025% to establish and maintain a senior citizen center. The estimated annual tax would be $8.33 for each $100,000 of market value.

The Elgin School District is asking whether it needs voter approval before increasing its annual total property tax levy.

The Geneva Public Library District wants to issue $21.8 million in bonds to build a library.

The Fox River and Countryside Fire-Rescue District in Kane and DuPage Counties wants to increase its property tax limitation annually by the lesser of 5% or the increase in the Consumer Price Index.

The Pingree Grove and Countryside Fire Protection District seeks approval for $8.5 million in bonds to build and equip two new fire stations.

The Burlington Community Fire Protection District in Kane and DeKalb Counties also seeks a tort liability tax of 0.145% of assessed taxable property value.

In separate issues, the Hampshire Fire Protection District in Kane and DeKalb Counties wants a new 0.10% property tax for emergency and rescue crews and equipment purposes as well as a new tort liability tax of 0.15%.

City of Aurora

Richard Irvin and Rick Guzman are competing to become Mayor of Aurora. The Alderman-At-Large seat also is contested.

The Kane County Forest Preserve District is seeking approval for $50 million in bonds to acquire and maintain new preserves.

Kendall County

The Troy Fire Protection District in Kendall and Will Counties wants to issue a new tax of 0.2% of property market value for firefighters’ pensions. The estimated cost will be $66.67 per $100,000 property value.

The Plainfield Public Library District in Kendall and Will Counties is asking to raise its tax limitation by the lesser of 5% or the increase in the Consumer Price Index for the 2017 levy year.

The City of Sandwich in Kendall and DeKalb Counties is asking to impose a one percent sales tax to pay for municipal operations, public infrastructure, or property tax relief.

The Sandwich School District in DeKalb, LaSalle and Kendall Counties wants to increase the base for bonds repayment from $87,411.12 to $787,411.12 for the 2017 levy year and by the lesser of 5% or the percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index for subsequent levy years.

Newark High School District in Kendall, Grundy and LaSalle Counties asks approval for $16 million in bonds to add a gymnasium and fine arts center to the building and make other improvements.

LaSalle County

Michael S. Hall was elected mayor of Earlville by a resounding margin. Scott Harl topped a field of three candidates for mayor of Peru.

The City of Ottawa proposal to become a Home Rule Unit was rejected by 78% of the voters.

The Robert W. Rowe Public Library District won approval to annex the unserved territory in the Serena School District.

Lee County

John E. Schamberger topped the field of three candidates for Amboy mayor.

A countywide referendum on a 0.5% sales tax increase for public safety purposes was approved by 64% of the voters. Proceeds will be used to fund a new Lee County Jail.

A new Harmon Fire Protection District was rejected by a vote of 66 to 43.

The Paw Paw Public Library District won approval to raise its property tax limitation by 0.16% for levy year 2015 and set it at 0.4375% for subsequent levy years through 2019.

The Bureau Valley School District in Bureau, Whiteside and Lee Counties is asking voters to approve $17 million in bonds to build a new school in Sheffield; add classrooms, a science lab and a performance gymnasium at Bureau Valley High School; and improve the Bureau Valley North school building site.

McHenry County

John A Koziol topped a three-person field for Marengo Mayor. Wayne Jett was chosen as McHenry mayor by a 2-to-1 margin. Brian Sager won nearly 60% of the vote in a three-way race for Woodstock Mayor.

Kimberly Martinez won a four-way race for Hebron Village President. Louis French defeated Dan Drury for Holiday Hills President. Russ Ruzanski was elected President of Lake in the Hills. Marilyn Shepit was elected Village President of McCullom Lake.

City of Harvard rejected a proposition to raise the property tax limitation by the lesser of 5% or the increase in the Consumer Price Index to 15.7% per year for 2018 but approved increasing taxes for parks and recreation from 0.075% to 0.233%.

Ogle County

Douglas Knapp won the race for Mayor of Polo. Rick Wurm was elected Village President in Davis Junction. Steven Johnson won the race for Monroe Center Village President. Dan Elasser was chosen as Village President of Mt. Morris.

The Village of Hillcrest request to establish a 0.5% sales tax for public infrastructure and property tax relief was approved by three votes.

Stephenson County

Freeport voters elected the city’s first female chief executive, elevating Jodi Miller from the Fourth Ward City Council seat to the mayor’s chair. She garnered 54% of the vote in a three-way race over Jon Staben and Andrew Crutchfield.

A countywide advisory referendum addresses various aspects of “reducing the corrupting influence of money on our political system.”

Dakota School District seeks to raise the tax limitation by 0.7% for tax levy year 2015 and be set at 5.58% for levy year 2017.

The Winnebago School District in Stephenson and Winnebago Counties proposes issuing $12 million in bonds to build a transportation and administrative facility and repair and equip four school buildings.

Winnebago County

Greg Jury will become the new mayor of Loves Park, with a margin of 11 percentage points over John Pruitt. Robert Corwin had a landslide victory over Gary Ingram to become Village President in Durand. Steve Johnson defeated Jerry Bolin by 83 votes to become Machesney Park Village President.

Harlem Township voters are being asked whether officials should oppose constructing the Great Lakes Basin Railroad “through any township in Winnebago County.”

The Winnebago School District in Stephenson and Winnebago Counties proposes issuing $12 million in bonds to build a transportation and administrative facility and repair and equip four school buildings.

The Hononegah High School District is seeking approval for $17.8 million in bonds to replace the inflatable dome with a bricks-and-mortar fieldhouse.

The village of Pecatonica asks to increase the property tax by 72.6% above the limiting rate for street improvements for levy year 2015 and set the tax rate at 0.7750% of the taxable property value for levy years 2017 through 2020.

City of Rockford

John McNamara held a commanding lead with 68.6% of the vote for Rockford mayor. Rudy Valdez was a distant second with 16.4%. Brian Leggero was third with 13.3%, and Ronnie Manns polled less than 2%. There were aldermanic contests in several wards as well. There also are township contests, school board seats, and Rock Valley College Board members.
