Cancellations Tuesday Due To Icy Weather Forecast

Due to an Ice Storm Warning for the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 5 , a number of cancellations have been announced. Many businesses, clubs and institutions, including libraries and churches, are closing early and cancelling evening activities as well. If you don't see an organization, business, class or event listed, check with it directly to confirm whether the scheduled activity has been cancelled. 

SCHOOLS

Harlem Schools will open two hours late Wednesday and buses will run two hours late. Dismissal is at the regular times.

Classes at all NIU campuses are canceled as of 6 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5. NIU campus locations will remain open for events and will operate on their regular schedules.

Highland Community College - all locations closing at 3:30p.m. - all activities and classes after that cancelled. Online classes and services remain available.

Kishwaukee College will close at 5 pm. All classes and events that begin at 5 pm or later will be canceled, both on and off-campus. Any class that has started will dismiss at 5 pm. Offices will close at 5 pm. 

Sauk Valley Community College - closing at 3 p.m. Evening classes cancelled.

Rock Valley College - all locations closing at 5 p.m. Evening events cancelled. 

Waubonsee Community College - all locations closing at 5 p.m. All evening classes and activities cancelled.

North Love Baptist Bible College - evening classes cancelled

Judson University - closing at 5 p.m. 

Rassmussen College - closing at 5 p.m.

Saint Anthony College of Nursing - closing at 5 p.m.

Virtually all secondary schools - public and private - in northern Illinois, including all in the Rockford area, DeKalb, Kaneland, districts in the Fox Valley, Dixon and elsewhere, dismissed classes early and have cancelled all Tuesday evening activities after 5 p.m. Some are opening late on Wednesday. (if in doubt about either a school's Tuesday night or Wednesday schedule, check with your district)

OTHER:

DeKalb County's Economic Development committee meeting is canceled

The Music Academy in Rockford - closing at 5 p.m.

Julia Hull Public Library: closing at 2:30.p.m.

Oregon Public Library: closing at 3.p.m.

Winnebago Public Library - closing at 5 p.m.

Polo YMCA: After School Care closing at 4.p.m.

Rockford YMCA closing at 7 p.m.

Rockford Park District is closing several facilities early and cancelling evening activities: Indoor Sports Center at MercyHealth Sportscore II, Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens, UW Health Sports Factory at 4 p.m.; Riverview Ice House, Carlson Ice Arena/Sapora Playworld at 5 p.m.; Washington Park Community Center, 6 p.m.; all Therapeutic Recreation programs cancelled. 

Tuesday's Young Women's Cancer Support Group meeting at SwedishAmerican in Rockford is cancelled.

Fox Valley Career Center in Maple Park is closing at 5 p.m. 

Rockford Chapter Vietnow - membership meeting cancelled

Keyes-Mallquist Domestic Violence Forum - cancelled, rescheduled to Mar. 5

The Salvation Army Rockford Temple Corps monthly Senior Luncheon scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 6 is cancelled.

FHN FastCare, Family Healthcare Center - Highland View Drive, and specialty Care - Harlem Ave.,all in Freeport, closed at 5 p.m. All FHN office practice locations, both Freeport and regional sites, will open at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.  However, FHN FastCare will reopen at 8:30a.m. Wednesday.
