On the campaign trail in Chicago yesterday, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders says he’s OK with the city’s mayor not supporting him.
In his first stop in the Mexican neighborhood of Little Village, Sanders spoke about his immigration policy in which he opposed breaking up families due to deportation.
On the near west side, he told a group of African-Americans that more money should be invested in education.
At both stops, he was greeted by Cook County Commissioner Jesus Chuy Garcia.
The senator from Vermont backed Garcia for mayor last spring.
Sanders still doesn’t appear to be a fan of the election’s winner Rahm Emanuel when he was asked following a speech.
"The question is do I want or need Rahm Emanuel’s support for president. With all due respect to the mayor, no I don’t," Sanders said.
Some groups are calling for Emanuel to resign because of his handling of a video showing an officer killing a black teen.
