Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner’s approval rating has taken a bit of a dip in the two months he’s been in office. That’s according to several recent surveys.
The governor's current rating sits around 36 percent, which is a full 20 points behind Democrats like President Barack Obama or Illinois Senator Dick Durbin.
But Rauner says he's not worried.
"I say polls go up and down," he chuckled, "and I would never lead or manage based upon polls. As I've said right from the beginning, change is hard and discipline is unpopular, saying no is unpopular ... I'm not going to be Mr. Popularity this year."
Rauner riled Democrats, continuing to push conservative ideas like right-to-work zones, which would weaken unions. He is also drawing a hard line on reducing state spending without proposing any new revenue sources.
